A Marriage Made in Heaven

“…It is interesting to read about another person’s perspective on life and how they handle the same situations we all face but in a different manner…”

“It is a very honest book. The author has written from her heart and bared her soul to readers. There are moments when you feel sympathetic and sorry for the difficult phases that the author has gone through. But finally, there is a positive note when the author triumphs over her trials. The book speaks about how the author sets up a PR company and a music company. She reunites with a singer with whom she continued a relationship until his death. The pictures are all beautiful and they give an idea about what the characters look like, which adds that personal touch.”

Another Look at Life is a work of non-fiction written in the format of a memoir by author Maureen Wingham. Tracing a complete life experience from its earliest origins, we meet Maureen as a young girl growing up during the Second World War, and follow her through the unexpected highs and lows that her life brings. Everything is included, from personal relationships to marriage, divorce, children, work, life, aspirations, and dreams, showcasing the variety of life with considered reflections on how one choice leads to the next, and how the journey builds up along the way. Through it all, our narrator maintains a joy and zest for life which is truly inspiring to read about.

Author Maureen Wingham has a great narrative voice with which to tell her story, sharing plenty of wisdom and admitting to her own youthful naivety during the earlier parts of her story. Never overly graphic or needlessly mean, even the harrowing experiences and less pleasant people she has encountered in life are treated with a nostalgic viewpoint and the idea that each of them has contributed to her overall story. The plot in itself is a reflective celebration of reaching milestones and maintaining tenacity, which I believe other readers will not only find interesting but motivational and clear proof that no matter what twists life throws at you, following your passions and pushing for success and happiness will see you through. Overall, Another Look at Life is a valuable memoir for its positive perspective on the most unexpected of journeys: a gem of a read.”
